We will cover you if a tyre or rim on the insured vehicle is damaged due to road hazards such as potholes, debris on the road surface and other irregularities that pose a threat to your tyres and rims.

How do I benefit?

We will cover you if a tyre or rim on the insured vehicle is damaged due to road hazards such as potholes, debris on the road surface and other irregularities that pose a threat to your tyres and rims.

 

• If the tyre damage can be safely repaired, we’ll have it fixed.
• If the tyre cannot be repaired, we will pay for its replacement.
• Coverage includes up to two incidents per year.

Rims may be damaged by hitting hazards on the road. 
• If the rim cannot be repaired, we will pay for its replacement with a similar rim.
• Coverage includes up to two incidents per year.

Correcting the wheel’s balance with small weights fitted to the rim to prevent the wheel from vibrating at speed. 
• We will cover one incident per year.

Adjusting the wheel’s camber and/or caster angles. 
Wheel alignment is often affected by hitting an obstacle such as a kerb.
• We will cover one incident per year.

The risk of punctures to your vehicle’s tyres is ever-present, but you don’t have to fear – we will pay the costs if you need to have a punctured tyre repaired. We’ll cover:
• The costs for puncture repairs.
• Coverage includes six incidents per year.

 

 

Excesses and time limits

 

 

Excess

  • A percentage claim cost is charged with a minimum of R300.
  • An additional excess is applicable should a claim be logged within the first 90 days of the commencement date and if the tyre tread is less than 3mm.
 

Important time limits

When you learn of an incident that may lead to a claim or receive any documents relating to the claim, you must inform us and give us full details within 30 days of the incident.

What is excluded from Tyre & Rim Cover?

  • Damage to tyres and rims on cars used for racing and/or speed reliability testing.
  • Damage to tyres and rims from a car accident, hijacking or theft, covered by comprehensive car insurance.
  • Damage to tyres and rims due to misuse, neglect or malicious damage.

How do I make changes?

  • To make changes to your policy you can call our customer care centre on 0860 10 55 38 and one of our helpful consultants will assist you.
  • Any change or cancellation will be effective from the time and date agreed to.
  • If we need to make changes or cancel your policy we will give you 31 days’ written notice.

How do I claim?

To claim on the Tyre & Rim Cover policy, contact our call centre on 0860 10 55 38 from Monday to Friday, between 08:00 and 17:00 and one of our helpful consultants will guide you through the process.

How do my payments work?

Your Tyre & Rim Cover policy is payable on a monthly basis through debit order. Your premium is deducted on the date stated on your schedule to provide cover for the following month.

If, in the month following the activation of your policy (and onwards), we don’t receive your premium on the due deduction date, you will be allowed a 15-day period of grace in which to pay your premium. If we still do not receive your premium after these 15 days, you will not have cover for that month.
